URBAN BIKE FEST

This year BAUM Fest opens the doors to the latest in urban mobility with URBAN BIKE FEST.

URBAN BIKE FEST is born from the passion for the bicycle and all its environment, it comes with the intention of giving visibility to urban bicycles bringing to BAUM Fest different races and modalities, in order to reach different audiences who love cycling.

BAUM LA MESS RACE

They attract a lot of fans as they are fun races, often depicting the day-to-day life of cargo-bike delivery in a city, swapping loads at every turn. It combines speed, agility and meticulousness in loading. This modality is growing alongside events such as CIMB (Iberian Bicycle Messenger Championship) and is becoming the leading competition.

BAUM BROMPTON RACE

A large part of mobility in Barcelona is done on Brompton bikes, a large collective of bicycle enthusiasts. These bikes are popular for their compact and foldable design, which makes them ideal for travelling around the city and for transport by public transport or car. Brompton races are exciting and demanding, and are held on closed circuits of short distances, usually 500 to 1000 metres. 

BAUM LAST WO/MAN STANDING

7 de oct.

It is currently being adapted to the fixed-gear mode with great success. On a very short track with the possibility of a continuous accompaniment from the public, it is very fast and above all technical. The participants ride around the track and on each lap the last rider to cross the finish line is disqualified until only one rider is left, the last rider standing wins the race. Qualifying rounds separating a group of 8 finishers.

BAUM MINICRIT

A fixie mini criterium race is a short (400-800m) closed-circuit cycling competition in which riders ride fixed-gear bicycles. The objective is to complete the most laps in a given time and be the first to cross the finish line. The races require skill and strategy due to the intensity and manoeuvring of opponents. They are popular at urban cycling events and exciting for participants and spectators.

Gold Sprint

6, 7 y 8 de oct.

An indoor bicycle race in which two riders compete on stationary bicycles connected to an electronic device that measures speed and distance. The goal is to finish first over a predetermined distance. They are popular at cycling events and test the speed and endurance of the riders. 

Fixie Gear Tricks

A style of urban cycling that involves performing tricks and stunts on fixed-gear bicycles. Riders perform tricks in urban environments such as parks and streets. Some common tricks are wheelies, bunny hops… FGFS is popular in the urban cycling culture and has created a community of creative and talented riders. 

TrackStand Versus

7 de oct.

A technique for balancing on stationary bicycles without moving. Riders balance from side to side with small adjustments of weight and handlebars. It is useful for track cyclists and in urban cycling, for example, at traffic lights and short stops.

Longest Skid

7 de oct.

A technique on fixed-gear bicycles for braking or slowing down by sliding the rear wheel over the pavement, applying pressure on the pedals and adjusting body weight. It is important for these riders as these bikes do not have conventional brakes.
